Eat Local. That’s one of the responses to sustainability. Eating local reduces transportation costs and impacts, improves local economies, preserves farmland, and reinforces community. Before the Industrial Revolution, that was the norm. Now, it is common to eat food grown on other continents. While some places like the biggest cities can’t readily support their populations, 90% of Americans could be fed from food grown within 100 miles. NYC and LA, not quite.
