Forget some groundhog in Pennsylvania predicting next season’s weather. One AI has analyzed our climate and predicts;
“…the planet would reach 1.5 degrees of warming between 2033 and 2035.
The AI also found that even in a low emissions scenario, the planet could reach 2 degrees of warming by 2054.” – Gizmodo
A prior analysis by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) estimated that 2 degrees was unlikely (given assumptions about policy changes, et al.)
Estimating the future is always an opportunity for errors, and updates that require changes in assumptions. This one, however, highlights the need for an awareness that the climate changes are even less academic than many treat them as. It might happen sooner than the policies can address.
