Add Electric Vehicle charging stations to the list of utilities every house must have in the European Union. In 2019, EV chargers become a required standard. We took electricity, water, and sewer/septic connections for granted. Then, the surprise was the addition of telephone, then cable TV, then Internet, and now EV. Installing chargers in every home greatly enables the adoption of electric vehicles, which have already been experiencing adoption rates that exceed expectations. By 2019, vehicle range will likely be extended as well meaning many EV owners won’t have to worry about finding stations for most trips. Things like gas stations may never completely go away, but they may become less common. That may seem unlikely but telephone and cable TV connections are becoming less necessary because of technology. The addition of EV chargers to homes won’t change their look, but if may change the look of our cities and our oil and auto industries.
