More renewable energy systems than fossil fuel plants were added to the world’s power grid in 2015. A record $286B of renewable energy was added while only $130B of fossil fuel plants were added, more than double. The good news is that the renewable energy means 1.5 gigatons less pollution. The bad news is that we need to decrease pollution by 10 gigatons. We’re heading the right way. Renewable energy is now the preferred source, particularly in developing countries that are more likely to accept new technologies as compared to developed countries that have habits based on decades of conventional power.
