Innovative thinking in Bhutan may result in most of their plastic becoming part of the pavement. Until recently, Bhutan had to either dump the plastic in landfills like most countries, or ship it to India for recycling. Even Bhutan has more plastic waste than they expect. They’ve now realized, however, that plastic can be made part of the pavement. Even only making 15% of the pavement mix from plastic is enough to use up all of Bhutan’s plastic waste. Bhutan needs roads. Turning a negative into a positive.
