More people are being convinced by the data and their personal experiences that climate change is real.
“At least 70 percent of Americans now believe that global warming during the last 40 years is real and supported by solid evidence” – Think Progress
The biggest shift has been in the Republican party. Democrats were more likely to accept climate change, but until recently, as many as 40% of Republicans did not. Now, only 16% of Republicans doubt the existence of climate change. The cause of climate change has less of a consensus, but at least the majority of Americans agree that climate is changing, which suggests enough popular support for dealing with it. The survey did not establish whether politicians reflect the populace on this issue.
