One of the more prominent CEOs in the AI (Artificial Intelligence) realm has declared that the Digital Singularity is here, now. Sam Altman’s comments are being challenged, which is not a surprise because such a moment is effectively subjective, not objective. The fact that at least two AIs have managed to break out of their confinements and act autonomously suggests he may be right. Whether he is right or not, AIs have reached the stage in development when humans may not be able to control them. If so, this pace was predicted earlier, and will probably be recognized as significant and global. There is little reason to expect the trend to cease.
