US health care costs continue to rise, but much more slowly than before; and, if the trend continues, could actually start falling. There are a number of factors contributing to the slowing of the rise, but none dominate. The two main factors are the advance of technology and the introduction of the Affordable Care Act; though healthier lifestyles, better food, walking and bicycling for commuting may actually be just as powerful – as individual choice should be when it comes to individual health.
