Turn a problem into a solution. Too much carbon in the air? Extract it and turn it into something useful. Using solar energy to heat a solution, atmospheric carbon dioxide can be pulled apart into carbon and oxygen. Oxygen is useful, of course. Carbon may actually be more valuable if the process also generates the newly discovered arrangements of carbon like buckyballs, buckytubes, and graphene. If successful, we may have a way to mitigate at least some atmospheric carbon while also generating useful byproducts. As with most such technologies, the ability to scale it will be key.
