People don’t trust people as much as they did. Yet, the Sharing Economy is growing, which relies on trust. The key is the Reputation Economy. People may be less likely to trust a stranger, but because of social media, they are more likely to trust the opinions of people who have dealt with them. If 10, 100, or 1,000 people says it’s okay, we’re willing to grant the benefit of the doubt. We may not trust each other, but we trust the wisdom of crowds. Mostly.
