Dubai Says Solar Beats $10 Oil

The idea that solar can only beat oil with subsidies was based on the last few decades. Look at the longer trend and, if solar technology continues its trend, even $10 oil won’t be competitive against solar. So says the National Bank of Abu Dubai, an institution that has lots of both. Solar’s advantage is that its efficiencies are increasing and tapping a limitless resource while oil’s technology is mature an tapping a draining resource. Solar can’t lubricate, so there’ll be some need for oil, but energy will become more connected to solar than fossils.
