Solar panels enable decentralized power and more environmentally friendly electricity – and can be difficult to fit into or onto the land and buildings. Got a lake, pond, or inland sea? Then, why not float them? The only size and power limit is the size of the body of water.
There are reasons not to float solar panels: interrupted marine environment, corrosion, wave and wind damage, maintenance access, retrieving sunken panels – but, if you don’t have anywhere else to mount the panels, at least here’s an option that is free of obstructions and shadows.

Might also benefit evaporation of fresh water which could be a huge benefit in drought and as global warming furthers. Impacts to environment are definitely a strong concern, but using reservoirs and such makes a lot of sense.
