Sad to say, but, with 1 in 6 Americans in poverty, some fraction of them will also be homeless. It affects families, too. One in 30 children are homeless. On average, in a classroom of 30 children, one is homeless. If there aren’t any in your kid’s class, then know that somewhere else there are at least two. That image is optimistic because it assumes the homeless children have at least have a home during the school day.

  1. This is really sad. I wish people would realize that the best solution for many of them is to start gardens. Growing vegetables and fruits can be very empowering.
