There was some hope that new lifestyles imposed by the disaster of the pandemic would lower emissions. Emissions did drop, but only temporarily. Progress is being made, and the rate of the increase may appear improved, but relative to history and relative to the other aspects of the environment, it would be highly unlikely if more sensitive environments weren’t already at or past tipping points.
