And another record. Heat records are becoming so common that people don’t react to them as much as their significance suggests. Antarctica just hit 65F, 1.5F higher than the previous record. In the last 50 years, temperature records there have risen 5F. The recent 1.5F increase happened in only 5 years. Even Antarctica’s heat is accelerating. While remote, the increases are very worrying because melting those glaciers raises sea levels globally. The record isn’t expected to last very long. The penguins probably aren’t pleased.
