This is the inevitable milestone. An autonomous vehicle hit and killed a pedestrian. The car had a safety driver (Uber), which evidently wasn’t enough to prevent the accident. Such events are inevitable, but the appropriate legislation, regulation, and redesign typically don’t happen until after the event. This is a step in the maturation process with no clear indication of how it will develop. Stay tuned.
