Putting pollution in context can be difficult. Much of the conversation lately has been about global warming and long term environmental impacts. The fight about pollution began with its health impact. We currently create so much pollution that 12.6 million people die from it every year. On an hourly basis, that’s the equivalent of 3.4 jumbo jets crashing every hour. 3.4 jumbo jet crashes in a year would cause headlines and concerns. Pollution isn’t as dramatic, but it is far more drastic.
