This may sound like a Duh! moment, but the data are finally available. Raising the minimum wage decreases crime. When people can make money by having a better paying job, they’re less likely to commit crimes of necessity. A 10% increase in the minimum wage leads to a 10 % to 20% reduction in crime; which also saves millions of dollars locally or billions of dollars nationally. Evidently, one way to reduce the size of government is to decrease the need for law enforcement and prisons by increasing the minimum wage. Sounds like a win-win. Much debate will ensue.
