Sci-fi becomes reality, yet again. This one is icky. Human traffickers are inserting RFID chips, the same things used for pets, into people so they can be tracked. A person with such a chip has a much more difficult time getting away. The article chronicles one person’s experience. The way they escaped was by revealing the implant by handing a note to hospital staff during an emergency room visit. It is sad reminder that as we develop technologies for one purpose they may be repurposed for ways than enable ancient crimes like slavery or prostitution.

I suppose it was only a matter of time before somebody misused chip tech. Humanity seems to have a limitless capacity for evil.
