Thanks to the closing of the dirtiest coal power plants, the increased use of natural gas, increased renewables, and increased efficiencies, America’s production of CO2 in April 2015 dropped below the level of April 1988. The number is still very high, 128 million metric tons, but the trends are environmentally positive and should continue.
