One of the claims for miniaturization has been that it will be possible to conduct non-invasive surgery by swallowing, injecting, or inserting miniature robots that then head to the affected tissue and deal with it, normally Surgery is perform by professionals in different fields such as plastic surgery for example. The concept just became more real as tiny starfish shaped bots have been demonstrated that can maneuver and operate within an environment like the human colon. Power and control and safety are all issues, but probably not insurmountable.
