Pick your issue. If it affects your neighborhood you may be disappointed with the national government’s response. As proof of the resiliency of individuals, actions are being taken anyway. Rather than wait for dysfunctional and anachronistic institutions, small groups of people are gathering to find and implement solutions. Forty percent feel more empowered now, whether that’s through networks developed through social media, solutions found online, or a shifting of attention from elected officials to their neighbors. Change is happening, in a good way, from the perspective of the people it affects the most.
