Are we exiting the Great Recession or not? Yes. GDP may be back up. Unemployment is down. Wages are slightly trending up. But one layer down in the data reveals that the Great Recession continues on for almost two thirds of Americans. Since 2002, median wages are down for them. There is plenty of evidence for optimism, but the majority hear about it in the news rather than see it in their lives. It may be an old phrase but the truth of it remains. The rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer.
