In some ways, methane is worse than carbon dioxide, about 20 times worse. We have some control over carbon dioxide, but methane is being released indirectly. As the oceans and tundra warm, locked in methane is being released. In the ocean, the methane has been held as an ice. A few degree warming in its vicinity and the ice melts expands rapidly and rises to be released into the atmosphere. (How big will those bubbles be considering gas is hundreds of time the volume of ice? Bad time to sail over one.) The only thing we can do is be aware (and maybe harvest the methane first?)
