In the last 15 years, the attitudes of teenagers has shifted from one of ‘expecting to get ahead’ to ‘getting ahead if you’ve got the money and resources’. Meritocracy has been replaced with being born into opportunity. Scholarships, the ability to take on debt, and even just the right advice are not equally distributed; and therefore, neither are their prospects for the future.
