Transplanted organs save lives. Organs that can be transplanted are in incredibly short supply, very perishable, and very expensive. One solution is cryo-preservation, freezing the organ so more time is available for finding the right match and getting it to them in time. Advances are making it more feasible, but it still isn’t easy. The biggest leverage, however, is getting more people to donate their organs. Demand (>100,000) is far greater than supply (~6,000).
