In one of those bits of big news that nobody notices, container ships, freighters, and tankers are becoming more fuel efficient. Small improvements make a big difference in bulk transport, and the efficiency improvements have been large. Ironically, the third largest country of registry for shipping is the Marshall Islands, which is at threat of inundation from sea level rise, which is partly caused by ship pollution. The right changes are being made, but they may be too late for the Marshalls.
