Autonomous cars are getting into accidents. That’s been one of the worries, but the reality is enlightening. Some of the accidents were crashes where the autonomous car was the victim. Some of the crashes were caused by the car, but when it was in human control. Some of the crashes are unknown, because the data aren’t fully public. It is inevitable that an autonomous car will cause a crash; but so far, they have better driving records than humans – a fact that insurance companies and corporations with fleets will appreciate.
