If you’ve been trying to live more sustainably, congratulate yourself. At least in America, consumption seems to be declining, even as the economy improves. Historically, economic growth also meant growth in consumption. Consumption was down during the Great Recession, and many equated the two. Now, as parts of the economy improve, it is apparent that shifts in transportation and an increase in renewable energy installations means consumption effectively decreases. The total consumption remains too high, but the trends are worth celebrating. Good job, people.
