Urbanization has been increasing; especially, since the Great Recession. One sign of a shift is that people are shifting again. People are moving out of the cities as opportunities arise elsewhere. The rush to the city cores may have had more to do with decreasing commuting costs and a demographic that was interested in entertainment; but is now being replaced with the previous trend to the suburbs. As the economy recovers, people’s freedom returns, and migration begins again. Might just feel sorry for city and land-use planners as populations and trends shift.
