The gap between rich and poor is widening, and not just financially. The poor, by necessity, spend almost everything on necessities. The rich spend more, but less as a percentage. So, a change in a non-negotiable expense like food, shelter, or health care dramatically affects the poor, but can seem like an insignificant issue to the rich. Same news. Different perspective. Disconnected discourse. As long as both are represented, both voices are heard; but because money is now designated as speech, the poor are heard less – exacerbating the situation.
