Ecuador has issued a digital currency that is exchangeable with their conventional currency. One critical hurdle for cryptocurrencies has been whether they can be used to pay taxes. Government acceptance is important. Unfortunately, there aren’t many early adopters. Only 8,000 people have signed up for the digital wallets.
