The good news, almost every device has become dramatically more efficient. That should mean the total energy and resource use is down. The bad news, and you knew it was coming, we’re using more than ever before. More people, bigger houses, and more stuff mean the total impact has climbed rather than fallen. Of course, that also means a more efficient lifestyle is possible, and is largely already in place.
