The world and our civilization are fragile things. It is a bit scary, but on occasion it is handy to list the ways the world could end; if for no other reason than to put everything in perspective. Some scenarios are out of our control: megavolcanoes. Some we could control if we decided to: asteroid impacts, pandemics. Some are completely in our control: our financial system, global nuclear annihilation, digital singularity, global climate change. So, the good news is that, for most of the threats, we are the solution – if we decide to work on it, that is.
