Remember the BP oil rig disaster in the Gulf of Mexico? For years the question was, “Where’d the oil go?” If the oil dissipated, was eaten, or somehow naturally made innocuous, BP’s penalties could be dramatically lowered. A series of core samples found the oil. It sank and is covering the ocean floor. Now that it has been found, the natural and financial consequences must be resolved.
