The middle class drive the economy. The poor are spending everything they have, and still don’t add up to much. The rich spend a lot, but there aren’t as many of them. Give a multi-billionaire an extra billion and the only way they can spend it is by buying very multi-million dollar things from other very rich people. Give the middle class a billion and they’ll pay down debt, repair things, buy things, save a bit, and enjoy vacations; much more effectively encouraging the economy. Unfortunately, the plans to change tax policies to aid the middle class are happening so late that fewer people will be affected. The growth in demographics has been below the middle class. Great idea, but a little late or aimed at the wrong target.
