California, a state that has greater influence than most countries, is in the midst of a drought that continues to worsen. In some parts of the state they will set rainfall records that can’t be beat; because you can’t get less than zero rainfall. Snowpack is down. Sea water is intruding into agricultural lands. Reservoirs are emptying. The trend can not continue forever. If the rains don’t arrive, people will eventually have to leave. Dairy farmers are already moving to the Midwest. If the rains return, it will take years of above average rainfall to get back to normal. If it happens faster than that, watch out for mudslides.
