Coral reefs are a small fraction of the ocean’s area, but are incredibly dense biologically. The coral exists in very few places because it needs precise conditions for life. The oceans are heating up. Local conditions are getting worse. Coral can’t migrate. There is the potential for a collapse of coral reefs and the food chain they support.
