Depending on how and where you count it, cybercrime now accounts for 3 out of 10 felonies. Some of the crimes are from people who wouldn’t commit the crimes without the technology, like young hackers. Many of the crimes are committed by people who would commit crimes, but are now using new tools that are safer and more profitable than physical crimes. Low tech works too. Pickpockets take more than just cash and credit cards; now they steal identities.
