Carbon dioxide is bad enough for global warming. Methane is worse. As the permafrost thaws, it is burping massive amounts of methane, which warms the permafrost, which causes more burps. Unlike mechanized pollution, there’s no way to stop the process except to cool the planet. Climate models may be underpredicting temperature rise as a result.
