Sad to say, we humans can find great solutions and then negate their value by using them improperly. (Oh dear nuclear, you had such promise.) Antibiotic resistance is growing because we use them improperly, either prescribing them unnecessarily, or only using them long enough to curtail symptoms but not long enough to eradicate the infection, but long enough to create resistant contagions. When antibiotics were only available in the “developed” world it was bad enough. Now in countries where use is harder to control, the resistant strains are being created at a greater pace in larger populations. Oops.
