To those that grew up during the Cold War, celebrate, because the Soviet Union and the United States never kicked off a nuclear war. Um, but we still have 16,000 warheads, they’ve getting older, protections are not as tight, and incentives are shifting. Until we clean up those leftovers, the threat of nuclear attack remains too high, even if most people have forgotten about it.
