Unemployed sounds like a simple label, but reality is more complicated. The data reflect simplicity, not reality. The longer you’ve been out of work, the harder it is to get a job. Fixing the algorithm doesn’t change that, but it does change how we view our economy. How many people are being ostracized? A large ostracized population is never good for a society.
