Round up from 99.87% (after an early adjustment) and get 100%.
“Wind, solar, and other emissions-free technologies met a record 99.87 percent of California’s total 18.7 gigawatts of energy demand, according to a spokesperson for California Independent System Operator…” – Grist
California is only one state, but it is a big state with a wide variety of climates and terrain. Solar, wind, hydroelectric, geothermal, etc. all have their places. Add them up and one of the most significant governments can, at least for a while, rely on renewable energy. And they’re not done. Solar and wind power installations continue to be added, making it easier for the state to reduce emissions. This is happening in more countries and regions. The progress has been slow, but is accelerating and spreading.
