Many people don’t trust scientific results because good scientists are aware of, and will point out, their assumptions limitations, and also point out other interpretations. Because of the public response, scientists report conservative results that are less likely to be logically challenged. Even these scenarios can be met with incredulity. The unfortunate consequence is that nature doesn’t react conservatively, and that things like climate are changing faster than the reported projections. If even the conservative models weren’t enough to create urgency without being considered too extreme, what are we to do with nominal models as the time available shrinks? There is a need for a popular, vocal, effective communicator – now, because, if not now, we could just be dealing with disaster not much later.
