The preliminary data are encouraging and debatable but autonomous cars may dramatically reduce accidents (~90%) and certainly won’t break the law; which means far less need for police responding to emergencies or writing tickets. The incentives and subsequent savings may be large enough to encourage municipalities to encourage citizens to quit driving.
