Tiny houses are a trend, whether they are houses, trailers, boats, apartments, or yurts. The yurts are a clue. Tiny houses were the norm until the industrial revolution. Except for royalty, people lived in what they could build. There was no incentive to build big because it cost too much, was too hard to heat, too vulnerable to threats, and the extra time was better spent on other things like finding food and making clothes. The trend may be less of a trend and more of a return to normalcy that just happened to be interrupted by a few decades of government subsidized 2,600 square foot homes. Reason is returning. Now, it just has to be made legal again.
