Everything has its place, including electric cars. Electric cars have many advantages, but the way the electricity is produced and the environment they are driven in changes their impact. Live in a temperate climate with a short commute and hydroelectric power? Electrics cars are green. Live in a climate that requires climate control, either heating or cooling, with a long commute and coal power? Then the benefits may have more to do with personal choice and ideology than ecology.
