The loss of jobs to automation continues now within the world of automobiles. Google’s driverless cars are being joined by other companies. One of their first targets are taxis. Not only does that challenge to conventional taxi industry, it also challenges the challenger to the conventional taxis. Taxis are being challenged by Sharing Economy companies like Uber. Sharing Economy companies enable individuals to make money in their spare time using things they already own, like their car. Driverless taxis negate both. One of the chief proponents of the new cars? Uber. Cue the irony.
