Yes, the climate is changing; but, it is not responsible for every meteorological upset. The record drought in California is that, a drought. Droughts happen. Even if climate change wasn’t happening, people must be aware of the variability in their local climate. The problem is, some climate cycles are longer than we’ve than the time we’ve lived in those places. They may not be able to sustain their populations indefinitely, as hoped.

As for California, the flip side are the mega-storms that historically have dumped dozens of inches of rain, which refills aquifers, causes landslides – and which is another story.
